Not to worry, if you love the nutrition of a bowl of oats there&#8217;s no need to put it aside just because it&#8217;s summertime. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.quakeroats.com\/cooking-and-recipes\/overnightoats\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Quaker Oats<\/a> has come up with a solution that can be customized perfectly to your summer tastes, which we&#8217;ve tweaked a little to also include that all important cup of coffee that may also seem too hot to handle lately.*<\/p>\r\n<p>You&#8217;re going to think we&#8217;re crazy&#8230; but this concoction we put together tricks you into thinking that you are eating a piece of warm peach cobbler alongside a cup of coffee!  So, if coffee and oats sound like a convenient match for your busy summer morning then this easy &#8216;make it the night before&#8217; recipe might just be the ticket. We were hesitant to try this idea, but so glad we did&#8230; you&#8217;ve gotta at least try. There&#8217;s no heat required yet it&#8217;s coffee, oatmeal, fruit and toppings all in one jar &#8211; what could possibly be more convenient? <\/p>\r\n<p>*What do you call a day without coffee? Other than that, the additional ingredients are totally up to you. That&#8217;s right, you decide the liquid(s) to use and the topping(s) to add. <\/p>\r\n<p>Here are the <strong>instructions to make cold oatmeal with coffee<\/strong> (or anything else that suits your personality).  It&#8217;s easy as 1, 2, 3!<\/p>\r\n<li><strong>1) Add 1\/2 cup of liquid &#038; 1\/2 cup of Old Fashioned Oats to a jar <\/strong>. <\/li> <p>We used the end of the pot of coffee (cold) from breakfast that had been mixed with some half and half. Feel free to use all coffee, all milk or a milk alternative, cream, apple juice or whatever liquid you prefer. <strong>The key is to use equal parts liquid and old fashioned oats<\/strong> (see additional info section below for oat questions). <\/p>\r\n<li><strong>2) Layer on fruits, nuts, seeds, honey, cinnamon, vanilla, yogurt, cream and\/or whatever else you enjoy on your oatmeal<\/strong>.<\/li><p> We made ours with peaches and cream since we had peach shortcake for dessert last night and there were some fresh peach slices and a bit of freshly made whipped cream leftover! Then we threw in a few Craisins and pecan chips for a little more color and texture. <li>Tip #1: The quicker you find a use for your leftovers, the less likely they are to get pushed into the &#8220;neverland&#8221; known as the back of your fridge.<\/li><li> Tip #2: If you&#8217;re out of fresh fruit, then use frozen &#8211; the juices will melt into the oatmeal as they thaw. <\/li><li>Tip #3: Nuts will get soggy overnight, which is fine for flavor but, add them in the morning if you&#8217;re looking for crunch.<\/li><\/p> \r\n<li><strong>3) Place the lid on the jar and then into the refrigerator overnight<\/strong> (or for at least 8 hours).<\/li><p> Your work is now done, go get a good nights rest. <\/li>\r\n<div class=\"cody-item-pic-container cntrtxt\">\n\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.eatbydate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/cold-oatmeal.jpg\" alt=\"cold oatmeal\" height=\"550px\" width=\"800px\" \/><\/div>\r\n<p>Don&#8217;t forget to grab your <em>cold oatmeal<\/em> creation from the fridge in the morning, along with an iced tea spoon. Old fashioned oats are essential to this recipe working properly, although other types could be substituted with varying degrees of success.<\/p>\r\n<p> The <strong>shelf life of cold oatmeal is about 5 days <\/strong>, so go ahead and mix up a whole week of breakfasts on a Sunday night!
