It is a common occurrence that can turn an otherwise beautiful dessert into something that you might even be ashamed to serve, possibly even making the crust inedible. After years of struggling with tiny strips of aluminum foil and trying to get them to stay secure around the crust of my partially baked pie while fighting the oven fan for stable placement, I realized that there had to be an easier way.<\/p>\r\n<p> By snipping the bottom off of a disposable pie tin and then turning it upside down and placing it on top of a cooking pie, the piece of (recyclable) trash became a crust savior! Placing it on top of the pie about halfway through baking, my pie crusts now come out beautifully browned each and every time! It shields the taller exposed crust from the heating element while the rest of the pie finishes baking.<\/p>\r\n<div class=\"cody-item-pic-container cntrtxt\">\n\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.eatbydate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/pie-crust-shield1.jpg\" alt=\"pie crust shield\" height=\"450px\" width=\"600px\" \/><\/div>\r\n<p>Do this with frozen pies or homemade pies, they all deserve a beautiful crust.
