Try strawberry cupcakes with pink icing or red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. Use red sprinkles or red decorating icing that you purchased on sale after Christmas. Save the green icing for St. Patrick’s Day.Heart Cupcakes
Directions: Here is an easy way to transform regular cupcakes into heart shaped delights without purchasing any special tools. All you need to do is drop a glass marble into each cupcake hole either before or after filling your cupcake sleeves 3/4 of the way up with batter.
Then bake and frost the cupcakes as usual. They come out with that iconic heart shape for valentines day, as you can see in the picture!
More Valentine Treats
These are rice krispies treats that were pressed into small heart shaped and and then partially covered in melted chocolate. Again, an easy twist on a tried and true recipe. I make them every year and no one seems to tire of their festive design or familiar flavor. I sometimes put each in a clear lollipop bag and add a ribbon to close. They can then be passed out to all the Valentines on your list. To make these treats see Valentine’s Day Rice Krispie Treats
Fudge is also a dessert that speaks to the heart. Use your heart cookie cutters on a batch of fudge for your sweetheart. To learn how to make quick and easy fudge see our sweetened condensed fudge recipe page.
Storage: All of these Valentine treats can be left covered or in an airtight container on the counter for several days.
